Reno Sparks Video Productions is a Rails site for the Reno, Nevada based video production and rental company. It displays several, admin-uploadable mp4 videos that are streamed from the nearest distribution point on Amazon's CloudFront CDN. Using the CloudFront service allows Reno Sparks Video to only pay for the resources it uses as well as be sure that users are getting the best connection possible. The streaming videos are displayed with the Flowplayer Flash plugin. Reno Sparks Video uses the Typus backend for its administration interface, and the correspondingly supported MySQL database for its database backend. Using an existing backend plugin decreases the time to market of the website. Inventory management including items in the studio, items for sale and items for rent can be easily controlled by the admin.
